Fairy Garden

This fairy garden was a lovely addition to our home. The pot is plastic and it's filled with soil. Amateur succulents planted around a pond and garden path. Pink icy pole sticks created a wonderful fence whilst a spray painted coke bottle with icy pole stick roof created the perfect fairy house.

Later a bridge made from icy pole sticks, paint and glitter created a beautiful feature to go over the pond. Coloured sand came from bunnings for the path and a few scatters created a bit more interest.

A little water in the pond over some glass stones, some spray painted glitter rocks and some freshly picked daisy's completed the picture. We have since added some more fairies to the look. A lovely little garden for my daughter to learn to care for. And very simple.

Large Newspaper Stuffed Fish

These are really easy to make and so effective. I was really proud of Marli for what she achieved here. She really enjoyed it and this was evident by her continuing it until it was finished. Just the standard kinder grade paint was used.

You can do so much to decorate these. We started with crayons .... although oil pastels would be better. I did the outline of the fish and cut out 2 the same (these were done on butchers paper). I then flipped over one and we did some decorations with the crayons. We then painted them and added some glitter glue and some plain glitter. A couple of large cut out eyes and here they are drying. Once they have dried we will assemble them.

Here is the finished product. I think I would go round all the edges with masking tape (on the inside) before putting it together if I were to use butcher paper again. The paper is quite flimsy and thus prone to tearing when stuffing it. I only did the top edge to give it stability and strength to hang it. All edges would be much better. Anyway I also ended up using paper towel (can you believe we didn't have a newspaper in the house!) which is particularly good for the smaller area's such as the mouth as it's much softer.

Load up the stapler because you need lots of staples to put it together properly. You certainly don't want paper peeking through in between the gaps. Good enough to hang up her brothers sea themed room!

Hand printing sea life

This can be easily created by using your child's hand prints. A sideways print creates a fish, up and down and it's an octopus. Add some eyes, suckers and mouths and you are done. We prepainted the background with blue wavy lines and added some green wavy lines (done with fingers) for seaweed. We also added a black paper frame so that we can make it a work of art to be hung in her gallery!

Under the sea theme

Finally I have gotten around to taking close up photo's of some craft we did for playgroup. All crafts were really easy and you can see photo's of them hanging up in an earlier post.

Star Chart

This I created as a chore reward chart.. As my daughter undertakes and complete goals throughout the day she is rewarded with a star. At the end of the week there are rewards such as outings to the park, trip to the $2 shop to pick out an item or extra stories to read at bedtime. Should be a bit of fun.

Parrots

Easy easy easy! 6 circles, feathers, a google eye and glue and you are done! We used fiskars extra large circles for eye and beak (just cut down the middle) and the smallest circle fiskars for the two feet. The head and body circles were bought precut in a large pack but obviously you could cut your own! Just use something like small round plates to draw around to get your circle shapes. Glue them together, adding a google eye and feathers.

Frogs

These frogs are great fun and really easy to make.

Your requirements are:

• Coloured paper plates (either bought or painted)
  
• Frog legs, arms and eye's template printed onto coloured paper or coloured in.
• Two googly eye's to stick on
• A tounge shape cut out
  

1. Cut out the frog's legs, arms and eye's template enlarge to the size you want)

2. Fold eye's along serrated mark.

3. Glue on your two googly eye's within the circles.

4. Fold coloured plate in half.

5. Stick on leg's, arms, eye's and tounge (see photo above)

**Additional suggestion ......... decorate frog further by adding sticky dots etc to it's back.
